The role of a Bible Engagement Worker at SU QLD will be to envision, equip, resource and encourage the engagement of children and young people with the Bible in a diversity of contexts.
Key Responsibilities will include:
• Assist in the development of a strategic plan for Bible Engagement
• Work across QLD in consultation with District Coordinators to help them achieve their strategic outcomes in Bible Ministry
• Develop Networks with partner churches and para-church organisations on issues relating to Bible engagement with children and young people
• Research and develop models/frameworks for effective Bible engagement with young people and children
• Train and inform SU QLD staff and volunteers at appropriate forums within SU QLD
• Intentionally mentor / coach volunteers in these frameworks for SU QLD events
• Develop Bible Engagement resources for SU QLD events, particularly in the area of SU QLD camping programs
• Foster a culture that encourages authentic engagement with the Bible
Key skills and experience include:
• Experience in the development and delivery of Bible Engagement programs
• Experience in working with youth and children in a ministry setting
• Ability to work within a team environment – collaboratively, supporting a team, taking direction, and leading others where necessary
• Ability to take initiative and manage multiple tasks
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a range of people from varied backgrounds
• Commitment to partnering with others to maximise ministry outcomes

SU QLD is a leader in delivering highly-respected camping, ministry, training and development programs. We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and connected person to join the team as Program Coordinator to develop and grow the DeepEnd program. This position is Part-Time (2.5 days / week).
DeepEnd is a Christian Leadership and Development program for adults to explore and grow in their faith and gain practical experience in ministry and discipleship. The role of a DeepEnd Coordinator at SU QLD will be to develop and manage the DeepEnd program whilst pastorally caring for the students in the group.
Key Responsibilities will include:
• Develop, lead and manage an engaging, fun and effective Christian leadership and development program for a group of up to 15 participants;
• Oversee reporting and administration for the program;
• Meet regularly with the Vocational Training Manager to monitor training delivery and processes;
• Offer an active role in the personal growth of the students for the duration of the program;
• Consult with each participant at the commencement of the program to establish an understanding of their motivations, needs, learning styles, interests and goals;
• Encourage discussion and exploration of students’ understanding of the Bible, Theology and Ministry within a range of contexts and differing doctrinal positions;
• Be involved in the planning and coordinating of various events including Graduation Ceremonies.
Key skills and experience include:
• A broad understanding of the theological issues that are important for working in inter denominational ministries;
• Demonstrated ability to contribute to the planning and delivery of programs;
• Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor and train others one-on-one and in small group contexts;

SU Qld is currently seeking a Vocational Trainer to join our Training Department, 2 days per week.
Reporting to the Vocational Training Manager this position will be responsible for training, assessing and pastoral care for course participants throughout the duration of their enrolment in the Certificate IV in Youth Work.
The successful candidate will have:
• Certificate IV Training and Assessment or equivalent qualification
• Training and assessment experience including the planning and developing of training programs
• The ability to coach, mentor and train others in both one on one and small group contexts
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in a Youth or Children’s worker role.
• ABL and group facilitation experience and demonstrated skills
The successful candidate will also need to have a strong organisational capacity, demonstrated ability to communicate in a range of settings to a wide variety of people and knowledge of advancing technologies and how they can be used to enhance training.

SU Qld, a Christian children’s and youth organisation, is seeking a Full Time (5 days per week) Area Manager for Northern & Western Queensland. This position is based in either Townsville or Cairns.
Reporting to the Field Director, the Area Manager (AM) will provide strategic leadership to a team of District Coordinators, and will seek to foster local engagement in ministry to children and young people across the area in partnership with local churches.
The Area Manager will en-vision, resource and support local interchurch ministry initiatives including school chaplaincy, holiday camps and programs, as well as playing an advocacy role for SU Qld within the Area. The AM will play an active role in building financial capacity for the organization.
The Area Manager will also oversee a small district as a District Coordinator (see DC role description).

As the Indigenous Liaison Officer your primary focus is to help SU QLD “close the gap” between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Australians within its sphere of influence. Further responsibilities include the provision of cultural support to Indigenous employees of SU QLD, and coordination, leadership and consultation with key internal stakeholders relating to; cultural awareness, Indigenous activities and events, professional development, and requirements for achieving the organizational goals within the Reconciliation Action Plan.
Key Responsibilities will include:
• Consulting with Indigenous chaplains and communities to evaluate current programs, identify areas for improvement, and develop future support programs
• Coordinate a forum for supporting Indigenous employees
• Assist the SU QLD Training Department to develop and deliver cross-cultural training programs
• Act as a consultant across the organisation in connecting to and building relationships with local Indigenous leaders / elders / communities external stakeholders
• Act as a consultant for chaplains / volunteers in developing programs for Indigenous young people
• Develop and coordinate professional development events for Chaplains with regards to Indigenous and Cultural Awareness issues
• Assist in the coordination of the SU QLD RAP working group
Key skills and experience include:
• Experience working in a similar role preferably with exposure to Human Resources and / or Indigenous employment initiatives
• A demonstrated ability to train, equip and coordinate others
• The ability to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers and external stakeholders
• Strong networking skills; capable of identifying stakeholders and building relationships across all levels of the organisation, as well as a range of church and community groups
