Bullying? NO WAY!

Posted in SU QLD

Bullying is a challenge in our world, particularly for children. Bullying can make people feel alone, unwanted and unsupported.

Chappy Linda from Landsborough State School was motivated to fight bullying in her school, so she launched a ‘Bullying No Way’ day on the National Day against Bullying and Violence each March.

“The whole school embraces the event, starting from a few weeks before the day itself,” Linda says.

“We run a heap of lead up activities, including a class decorating competition and for the first time this year we’re trying to break a Guinness World Record by creating the longest bunting chain.

“Each student was given an orange triangle of bunting to write an encouraging thought or act of kindness on – we are going to tie all of these together and hang them around our school hall.”

Past all the practical activities, Linda says she’s glad that the message has been heard and had a huge impact on the school community.

“At the end of the day, the school runs a parade – it’s amazing to see the sea of orange that the students and teachers have dressed up in,” Linda says.

“It’s a really special moment. We also read our school pledge to make a stand against bullying.”
