Chloe’s devotion to Youth in Emerald

Posted in Training

Chloe has a clear vision for her life. She wants to powerfully transform a generation.

That’s why Chloe is studying her Diploma of Youth Work with Scripture Union Queensland externally – so she can put her skills to use in her local community in Emerald. Here’s more of Chloe’s story…

“I was born in Zimbabwe and moved to Emerald when I was 13-years-old. I found it really hard to fit into high school, especially since I was from a different country.

“But my chappy was amazing and she helped me settle in. That’s why I’m passionate about youth work… I remember how she made me feel as a student, and I knew from then that I was going to be part of youth work in some way. And now, I’m a chaplain too.

“I feel if God has placed me in Emerald, then I’ll do whatever I can to get more qualified so I am better equipped to help the youth here, even if it means studying externally. It can be challenging at times, but I feel very well-supported. The trainers at SU QLD Training are really invested in each of us, and it feels like they’re walking with us through the course.

“If you’re thinking about doing youth work, and you want to powerfully transform a generation, then remember that God doesn’t call the equipped, he equips the called. Training definitely equips you in the right way and there’s no time like the present!”

Mid-year applications for admissions for a Certificate IV in Youth Work (CHC40413) or a Diploma of Youth Work (CHC50413) are now open. Visit training.suqld.org.au or call 07 3112 6444 to find out more.
