Encouragement from the Scriptures – Guarding your heart

Posted in Prayer / SU QLD

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” – Proverbs 4:23

This is a powerful, practical statement from King Solomon – a man the Bible describes as great in wisdom, wealth and power beyond any of the previous kings.

The word ‘guard’ means protect, watch over, secure, look after and take care of.  What the king is saying is right at the top of all the important things you do in life, is the need to guard your heart. Why? Because everything you do flows from that.

So how do you guard your heart?  Here are four things I do every day to GUARD my heart…

Forgive fast: (Matt 6:14) Keep short accounts. Understand that people will hurt you. Please note we don’t forgive people for their sake, we forgive people so we can be free.

Pray daily: (Luke 11:1) Be refreshed and renewed daily in the presence of the Lord in prayer.

Read your Bible daily: (Matt 4:4) Feed your soul daily with the Word of God. Christian books are great to read, but the BIBLE is inspiring, it brings insight and revelation.

Go to church regularly: (Heb 10:25) Commit and connect to a local church family. Be a part of the local church vision where you’re encouraged to love God, love the church, and love the lost.

So let me pray this over you today my friend: The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.
