STORY FROM THE SCHOOLYARD:

“Working in small country towns is a very different experience. Georgetown State School has about 40 students, Croydon has about 30 and Forsyth about 10. The small community feel is fantastic.

“Living in Georgetown is definitely new. You kind of have to introduce yourself to people. You can’t be shy and wait for an invitation. You just have to go into town and say, ‘Hey, how are you doing?’ Going into the school is a fairly big leg-up into the community because the kids all know you. And if they like you, the parents will soon find out.

“I am keen to help kids in the school, and as time goes on, I want to build a rapport and support the whole community.”
