Community Outreach turns 40!

Posted in Our heritage

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Rainbow Beach Community Outreach. Whether you attended activities as a child, or have been a past volunteer, we’re inviting you to attend and celebrate this milestone from the 26th of December to the 5th of January.

Rainbow Beach has seen a dedicated team of volunteers visiting each year with the goal of connecting and serving the community. It is this solid heart of volunteerism that has kept the event going for 40 years.

Current Event Director Philip Thomson describes what you can expect in 2015. “There will be daily children and youth programs with craft, bible stories and themed games on the beach. The evenings will feature a soccer competition, movie night, trivia night and a big New Year’s Eve party,” says Philip.

Volunteer Ben Findlay is excited for people to return this year. “Each year we hear of people, who 15-20 years ago were on the program as a child and they tell us the lasting impact the event has had on their faith development,” says Ben.

“I would love to see more people come along this year and I feel so privileged to be able to invest into the lives of the people in Rainbow Beach,” says Ben.

SU QLD runs a number of these local, community-based outreaches to provide fun activities for children and their families. These community outreaches provide opportunities for individuals and churches to practically show God’s love in local communities.
