Introducing your new Mobile Chaplains!
Posted in Chaplaincy
We’re very excited to introduce Peter and Christine Coates… our new mobile chaplains!
You generously answered the call, and collectively raised more than $130,000, which is amazing. Your support has made an immediate difference and allowed Peter and Christine to hit the road on April 20th.
“We are so excited to be the new mobile chaplains!” Peter says. “We’re qualified teachers with many years of teaching experience between us. We have two adult children, two dogs and a cat, and live in Edmonton, just south of Cairns.”
Peter and Christine live and breathe country life, having travelled throughout Queensland.
“We’ve previously worked in small country towns and love small communities. We saw the positive impact chaplains had on the school while we were teachers. Each child should have someone to listen and encourage them,” he says.
Their new adventure started in Boulia, a small town in Queensland’s central west. Their role takes them on a circuit through the areas of Boulia, Urandangi and Bedourie.
They’ll spend this year travelling between schools in those areas – they’ll help in classrooms, run community programs, and facilitate sessions in schools that have been waiting years for a chaplain. You have made this possible!
Your gifts towards the $150,000 program cost for the Mobile Outback Chaplaincy Service mean young people living in the outback will not be disadvantaged this school year. The funds you have helped to raise will cover costs, like training, accommodation, transport and fuel.
We’ll keep you updated on their work and whereabouts throughout the year via our Facebook page and blog. Thank you for supporting more outback students in 2015!
Hello Peter and Christine
Something stirred within when I read your story.
Perhaps you would like to email me prayer requests?
Many blessings
Julia

So good to see Peter and Christine in your news. We’ve prayed for them over the years they ministered in Cairns and continue to do so now they are ‘on the road’.
