Schoolies thrives with church support
Posted in Camp life
SU-Schoolies events keep growing in popularity each year, and we can keep expanding largely because of the amazing support from churches across Queensland. Here’s a look at two churches that support the event…
Cathedral of Praise Church, Rockhampton
Devon Holloway, from Cathedral of Praise Church in Rockhampton, is a leader who also attended SU-Schoolies as a student.
Devon’s church volunteered six leaders for SU-Schoolies in 2014. “Churches should support SU-Schoolies. It’s a big opportunity to inspire young people at a pivotal point in their life to live for something more than themselves,” she says.
“Attending SU-Schoolies will change the lives of young people in your church and young lives across Queensland.”
Cleveland Baptist Church
“A number of our youth leaders volunteer on SU-Schoolies and they encourage our youth to choose this option,” says Pastor Mark Westhuyzen. “This, for us, has a strategic benefit because it develops their leadership capacity. We also provide financial support for students and leaders.”
