The Eames Family are an SU QLD Camp dynasty.

Incredibly, there hasn’t been a SchoolzOut camp over the last decade without an Eames Family member involved, either as a camper or a volunteer leader. And that’s just the beginning of the family’s history with SU QLD Camps.

Imagine going on a holiday – the long plane flight, the shuttle ride to your hotel, the arduous check-in – only to be greeted by dozens of Year 12 students in the foyer of the hotel.

It’s only then you realise that you have booked your very necessary holiday right in the middle of Schoolies Week.

This is a true story. Hundreds of people would have done that just in the last week of November 2015 alone — the dates for Queensland Schoolies Week 2015.

20 years ago, a young Wade Stickland was preparing to go on SchoolzOut to celebrate the end of his primary school years. A big milestone in the life of every child, it is special to be able to enjoy this momentous transition with old friends and a lot of new ones. Wade really loved his experience and it has stuck in his memory ever since.

“That’s what I remember from my time as a camper. The end of year celebration. You may have had a great time with your friends at the end of primary school but SchoolzOut is great to go away and have a great time with a whole different bunch of great friends,” says Wade.

One of the great things about SU QLD camps is that there is a camp for everyone. There are your general adventure and holiday camps; specialised adventure camps; camps for girls only, and others exclusively for the manly GENTS out there.

There are even camps for people who don’t normally do camps – Ubertweak for the technologically minded, and SMADD (which stands for Song Music Art Drama Dance).

Held every September school holidays at Alexandra Headlands on the Sunshine Coast, Smash Camp has developed into one of SU QLD’s most popular camps.
