Our BIG vision is only achievable with your continued support…

It’s a new year and our team has plans to build up – plans that will see even more children and young people experience fullness of life. There are new programs, new initiatives and new ministries, and they are only made possible with the support of people like you! We look forward to keeping you in the know throughout the year about how you are impacting children and young people across the state.

A passion for helping others achieve their dreams has set Phil Henley on course to change the way people view real estate agents.

Phil, a family man with an in-depth understanding of the housing market from Clayfield to Burpengary, opened his own agency last year, Steadfast Realty QLD.

“The public perception of real estate agents is not good. Being my own boss, I can do things the way I think they should be done. For me, great customer service with a good outcome comes first,” says Phil.

Matching buyers with their dream home is important to Phil, as is contributing to the community at large.

“When I started with the Wynnum Manly Local Chaplaincy Committee, we had 1 chaplain. Now we have 10 schools in the district that have chaplains.”

Tom Andrews has seen many changes over his 25 years volunteering on the Wynnum Manly LCC but that statistic is something of which he is especially proud. The committee, as do many committees around Queensland, supports its local chaplains by helping to fundraise for the chaplaincy role, and ensuring the chaplain is cared for and supported.

(Director of The Fathering Project)

Kids today are subject to far more destabilising influences than earlier generations – drugs, cyber-bullying and social media pressures to name a few.

At the same time, dads these days have more demands on their time, as they often feel they have to work longer hours and/or travel more to keep their career on track. This means that dads are often absent from home for long periods of time, or distracted by work issues when they are at home, and so most of the parenting falls on mum’s shoulders.

Queensland Father of the Year 2015’s 6 Regional Winners revealed

Those with a great dad will tell you just how much it has benefitted their life. Fantastic parents give a child a solid foundation and a great head start on life. Fathers play a unique role in this development and Queensland Father of the Year began many years ago to celebrate outstanding fathers for their exceptional commitment to raising their children, or their exemplary contribution to the development of children in the community.

The Regional Winners have been selected from the many nominations we received and the following dads will attend the Queensland Father of the Year award ceremony Wednesday 2nd September, where the 2015 State winner will be announced.

As Mandy Williamson looks back on her life, the impact of one person stands out to her, her chaplain Hannah.

Mandy’s childhood looked very different to her life today. A turbulent time characterised by abuse from her alcoholic father and concern for her depressed mother. Both parents’ drug addictions only added fuel to the flames.
